Vinzelles. Flavescence: “Maintain zero insecticide treatment trials in 2025”

At the initiative of the organizations for the defense and management of the Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Pouilly-Loché vintages and the Collective of Winegrowers against Flavescence Dorée, a meeting took place in Vinzelles.
" After a historical reminder of the appearance of golden flavescence in Burgundy, the creation of a collective of winegrowers and the current situation in the south of Mâconnais in the territories of the 3 "Pouilly" , the ODG recalled the rules of the 0 treatment experiment. Based solely on strict and supervised prophylactic measures, this experiment is today threatened by the draft prefectural decree of April 10" indicated the representatives of the appellations.
François Dal, an agricultural engineer, spoke by emphasizing that "an experiment of this type is essential to advance knowledge about how to combat this disease, which is now well established." He believes that "the local situation weighs in the benefit-risk balance in favor of the benefits, with risks that are measured and managed, and concluded that it would be implausible not to complete this experiment."

Dr. Pinatel, who is trained in environmental medicine, the challenge of which is to understand the systemic relationships and synergistic effects of environmental factors on organisms, recalled in particular "that pyrethroids (90% of the substances used against flavescence Dorée) are involved in numerous cancers (lymphomas, leukemia, sarcomas, etc.) and disrupt neurodevelopment. He also recalled that tiny quantities are enough to decimate bees."
The timing of this meeting with the release, on April 24, of a study by ANSES, which raised the alarm on the health and risks of pyrethroid insecticides, was also highlighted during the evening.

After discussions that reached consensus, the winegrowers' collective against flavescence dorée, which had been put on hold for several years, is getting back on track. Through winegrowers who do not want a fight based on insecticides (which has not proven effective according to members of the audience), the collective, including Nicolas Maillet, will provide support and be a driving force in the management of the fight against flavescence dorée.
Finally, a petition has been proposed for the coming days.
